Condolences
Dear Margaret and Family,
Sorry, it has taken a while for me to write.
I got to know Syd at Ridley for the last 20 years he was involved with Cadets. He was an incredible man and I simply loved him. He and I worked together for so long battling hard to keep Cadets alive and well at Ridley. He was simply the heart and soul of the operation. I had spoken to him a few weeks before he died and he did not say anything about not feeling well as he was more concerned about me as I had just lost my wife Bobbie to Cancer. Please keep me informed as to when a celebration of life is to happen as he meant a great deal. This year alone I have now lost 5 people who are very near and dear to me, he and my wife being at the top of the list.
Kindest Regards

'Aunt' Margaret, Caroline. Chris and families on behalf of my family I just want to pass along my deepest sympathies and condolences to you all. I am so sorry to hear about 'Uncle' Syd's passing. My memory flashes back to so many memories as part of the extended "Norn Iron" family -from visiting you all when you lived in Burlington, to many Saturday night dance events, to many Clawhammer shows. May you rest in peace Uncle Syd! Ian White, Cheryl, Mary & Katye
Margaret, Caroline & Chris
Wendy and I share our sadness and pass on our deepest condolences at the passing of Syd. So many fond memories growing up with the " Norn Iron" extended families, just too many to list here!
Syd will always be remembered by me as Captain Lyttle. Syd passed on life skills and experiences to me through cadets that I used during my time in the military both in the Artillery and RCEME. They have served me well in my civilian career as well!
Always with that smile and infectious laugh, you will be greatly missed!
Slainte and thanks for the craic! We will hoist a wee dram to you!

His smile and laugh will always be my favourite memory of him, and will be a part of me for the rest of my life. He was a truly amazing man. Our condolences, and all our love.

Sending out my sincere condolences to his family, after meeting him at Robert Land Academy when I went with my mother to pick up sewing to be done he became a face that I will never forget. He was always a happy smiling face when we would show up to the laundry facility, smiles from ear to ear. The accent I will never forget, "Here's a Toonie for an ice cream cone in attercliff station" or when he would show me the cool food packs that they gave the boys at that school when they were out hiking and backpacking. It was just so cool to me when I was a lad, I was so interested in what a military school was like.
Wherever he went he brought a smile and a laugh, Syd will be missed deeply by Calvin & Renee Hamilton, he left a lasting impression that will never fade.
