In a world full of interesting people, Roy stood out as a truly fascinating individual. Not only was he an amazing story-teller, he also had incredible life wisdom to share and did so with humility and grace. He always expressed interest in whomever he was chatting with, regardless of their age or lack of experience, making each person feel valued. I remember once a rather sullen young man came into our shop when Roy happened to be there waiting for his own car to be fixed. Somehow he engaged that teenager in conversation and drew him out of his shell, even managed to get him smiling. That seemed to be typical of Roy - he had a gift for bringing people up to his own level of optimism. We appreciated all of our customers but especially looked forward to Roy's visits.
