Obituary of Sylvia Breukelman
The Lord called Sylvia Breukelman home early in the morning of her 75th birthday, September 21st. She celebrated her birthday being welcomed by her Saviour. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband Fred (Frits) Breukelman to whom she was married for 50 amazing years, along with her children Fred and Doreen Breukelman (Burlington), Lisa and Eric Lammers (Frankford), Brian and Nicole Breukelman (St. Anns), Jennifer and James VanGurp (Belmont) and all their beloved grandchildren. Sylvia is predeceased by her parents Michael and Janke Huizinga. Dear sister of Klaas (✝) and Greta Huizinga, Ann and Bill (✝) DeBoer, Gary (✝) and Tina (✝) Huizinga,Henry and Margaret Huizinga, Betty and George Gritter. Sylvia found her purpose in serving others. What brought her pure joy was a message or pop-in visit from her grandkids; when they stayed for supper or slept over it was even better! The extended visits at her daughters' homes were also highlights! Sylvia loved travelling, visiting with family and playing games with her friends. Although a servant, she was fiercely competitive...never fond of losing to Frits. Sylvia served in multiple church & school committees such as the Booster Club, the Counting Committee and the school board. Most recently she spent her Tuesday’s volunteering at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Store in Beamsville where beautiful life-long friendships were made. Visitation will be held at Smithville Christian Reformed Church from 2-4 and 7-9 on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021.
