Wilf Austin

Obituary of Wilf Austin

Please share a memory of Wilf to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sadly, with his wife Annita and sister-in-law Barbara by his side on February 18, 2021.  Wilfred Thomas Austin passed away peacefully.  Wilf was married to his love Annita for 7 years but had known her for 46 years.  He was a strapping good-looking man and tall at 6’4”.  His passions in his younger years was fishing with his Dad and he loved coaching the kids in baseball and hockey.  Wilf was a very kind and gentle soul and was well respected, admired and loved by family and friends.  Wilf built many friendships throughout his life and career.  Upon reaching out to them they only had kind and loving memories of him.  His quick wit and funny answers left you laughing all the time and confused most of the time.  With Wilf help was always there when needed all you had to do was call, he never questioned and never asked.  Wilf started his business 41 years ago with only a desire and passion to succeed in the poultry business, while also owning a restaurant and Inn.  He would say he was a great cook but was much better at cooking on the BBQ.  Near the end he gave a great fight but his Angel watching over him said it was time to go.  Wilf aka “Huggy Bear” will be so sadly missed for many, many years.  A special thank you to Lynn and Lisa EMS paramedics, Rachael and Allison at McNally Home Hospice and to Dr. David Sjaarda for all their help and support.  There will be a private family service. If desired, memorial contributions to McNally House Hospice Grimsby (http://www.mcnallyhousehospice.com/how-you-can-help/donations/) would be appreciated.  merritt-fh.com
