Condolences
"I know you won't forget me,
Or the happy old-time days
Or the hours we've spent together,
In friendship's pleasant ways.
But because I love to tell you
That I hold those memories dear
I'm sending you this message of friendship and cheer."
This poem was on a picture that we saw at Ken & Zetta's auction sale July 5/1993. I copied it down at the time and now I pass it along to you as we remember Lyle; we will not forget him, his robust laugh, his smile, his stories and his great visits when he would just drop in to visit family. Cling to the memories, and remember with love. Sincerely Bill, Diane & Cody Switzer
Jim & Jane...although I never met your father I remember you speaking of him very often & with great respect & regard. May your memories of happier times help sustain your family.
Our deepest condolences.

Thinking of you, and sharing the burden of loss with deep sympathy and compassion during this difficult time.
Deannie and the entire Switzer Family, Marie and I offer our condolences on the passing of Lyle.
Although I only knew him as "the Massey guy" many years earlier, we got to re-connect at the sports games of our Grandchildren in recent years.
Deannie and Marie were the quite ones, but Lyle and I made up for them. We were the Grandpa brigade, and knew exactly what the coaches and referees should have done and called. I will miss those times.
We heard all about that special G.M. pickup, and someday it would be nice to see Jim and Jane, maybe even all the kids drop in to show it off.
R.I.P.
John & Marie

Deannie : I'm very sad at the news that Lyle has passed on. To me he was an extra ordinary man, and as others have pointed out so rightly, he had that mischevious distinctive laugh. I'm sure he was the life of many a party, and no doubt many stories abound of his penchance to have a good, if not a great time whenever possible. You may not recall that Lyle hired me in the summer of '64 and it was three summers of the best times a teenager could ask for. He was up for anything and helped me build my first road worthy car ( you may remember that old Ford sedan with me and all those teenage girls !! ). Beside his disinctive laugh, he was always moving fast, even while standing still. Such energy ,a go getter work ethic - what a role model for a mid teen to emulate.
One of the great early influences on my life - I consider myslf so very fortunate that our paths crossed.
Take care and stay well.

My condolences to the Switzer family . My memory of Lyle was his joyfulness , always that laugh. He was one of a kind and will be missed.
Our condolences to Deannie and family on Lyle’s passing. We lived on Morgan Street for several years and often heard Lyle’s deep laughter out at the swimming pool at night.....always good memories. He will be missed.
We have many memories of helping Lyle with his many "fix it" projects. He would burst through the door of our Hardware Store and head to the basement to find what he needed for his latest project. Thinking of you and your families. Janet and Daryl
Deannie, I was so sorry to read about Lyle. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. You and your family did so much for the Smithville community. He will be missed. Sending condolences your way. Sincerely Jamie and Lee Ramage (nee-Killins).
My condolences to the Switzer family. My memory goes back to when the Switzer family first came to Smithville and they were my best friends this many years. Rest in peace Lyle. Ivan Carruthers
I remember Lyle's shop in downtown Smithville. At one time he kept Sharon's pony in a stall there. I grew up with Sharon and her brothers, we were in the same grade from Grade One to Grade 13. I remember him snowmobiling in the Fairgrounds behind our house. My sincere sympathies to the Switzer family.
I am so sorry to hear of Lyle's death. His obituary says it all. I personally experienced his Mr. Fixit skills more than once. I have known Lyle for most of my life and consider it a blessing to have known him.
