Obituary of Vern Silverthorne

SILVERTHORNE, VERN:  At Juravinski Hospital on Sunday, November 24, 2019, Laverne David Ross Silverthorne passed away at the age of 64.  Vern was the beloved husband of Joanne (nee Gamble) for 23 years, and a loving father to their son William.  Dear brother of Sharon Atkinson (Ira), Carolyn Travis (George), Laurie Tufts (Kevin), and Rob Silverthorne.  Predeceased by his parents Ross and Shirley Silverthorne.  Vern will also be missed by the Gamble family, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his furry companion Lucy.  Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Sunday, December 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at Merritts United Church, 707 Church Road (corner South Chippawa Road), Wellandport, on Monday, December 2 at 11 a.m. with interment at Merritts United Church Cemetery.  Memorial donations to Merritts United Church or Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family and if desired can be made through the funeral home.
