Obituary of Jean Winnifred McPhail
Peacefully, with family by her side, at McNally House Hospice on October 5th, 2019 in her 92nd year. Jean was the daughter of Frederick Samuel and Mary Anne Gardiner (née Whelan). She was predeceased by all of her brothers and sisters(and their spouses) Frederick Douglas, Mary Pauline, and Charles Samuel Gardiner and Donald and Clayton Loucks. Also predeceased by her beloved son Patrick. Jean will be missed by daughters Judy Sparks and Nancy (Wayne) Ireson, sons Christopher (Christiane) McPhail and Dennis (Bonnie) McPhail. Her legacy continues in the memories of her thirteen grandchildren (who each believed they were her favourite), eighteen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Jean’s love of family, travel, music, and books enriched all of our lives. The family wishes to thank Dr. Sjaarda and the staff at Smithville Medical Centre and St. Elizabeth Nurses. Very special thanks to the staff and volunteers at McNally house for their caring support of our Nana and our family. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 9:30-11:30 am. Refreshments and fellowship will take place at the Smithville United Church, 116 West Street, Smithville following the visitation. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
