Obituary of Paul Joseph Mego

MEGO, PAUL:  At Niagara Health System General Hospital on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, Paul passed away peacefully, with family at his side, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Jean Mego. Loving father of Susan Stevens (Ron), Sandy Robinson (Gary Gollop) and Barbara Posthumus (Wilf)). Cherished grandfather of Jordan (Corey), Amanda (John), Brett, Andrew, Kristen, Ashley, Kevin and Kylie; great-grandfather of Teigen. He will be dearly missed by his girlfriend of 21 years Helena Davidson and her family, his sister-in-law Loretta Mego, and remembered by his niece, nephews, friends and neighbours. Predeceased by his brother Anthony Mego and his son-in-law Mike Robinson. Paul worked at American Can for over 30 years while pursuing his love of farming. Special thanks to the nurses of unit 2A for their compassionate care during his hospital stay. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Saturday, April 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and Sunday, April 8 from 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 8 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville on Monday, April 9 at 11 a.m.

with interment at the Church's adjoining cemetery.   If desired, memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation through the funeral home.
