VAN BERGEYK, JOHN: And He said unto me , “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness”. Corinthians 12:9. After a life of abiding Christian faith, surrounded with the love of his family at McNally House Hospice; Heaven's gates opened and John was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 21, 2017, John Van Bergeyk passed away in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Grace (nee van der Hoef) for 56 years. Loving father of Larry (Nelly), Gilbert (Michele), and Geraldine Van Bergeyk. Cherished Opa of Sophie Hawkins (Nathan), Grace Van Bergeyk, Cory Van Bergeyk, Tania Clarkson (Brad), Leah Van Bergeyk (fiance Jake), and Adam Van Bergeyk, and Great Opa to Ariella and Ruth Hawkins, Carter and Kaylee Clarkson. Dear brother-in-law of Janny (Henk), Evert Jan (Gerda), the late Sien (Jan), John (the late Gerry), Bert (Corrie), Truus (Jan), and Riet (Roe). Predeceased by his brother Sijmen. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Wednesday, May 24 from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Binbrook Baptist Church, 3060 Binbrook Road, Binbrook on Thursday, May 25 at 1 p.m. Private interment at Lane's Cemetery, St. Anns will precede the service.
