Obituary of Sidney Warner Merritt

MERRITT, SIDNEY: On Tuesday, January 17th, 2017, Sidney Warner Merritt of Redwater, Alberta, and previously of Charlton, Ontario, and Smithville, Ontario was called Home to be with his Lord in his 93rd year. Sidney was the beloved husband of the late Jean Bernice (nee Smith) for over 60 years. He was a loving father to Judy Merritt of Ottawa, Sharon and Jim Yent of Redwater, Alberta, Betty and Keith Rodel of Pontypool, Debbie and Owen Babcock of Charlton, Tim and Cheryl Merritt of Aurora, Lori and Steven Prince of Kirkland Lake area, and Mark Merritt of Charlton. Cherished by grandchildren Ben, Steven, Nathan, Jennifer, David, Eldon, Shannon, Rebecca, William, John, Patrick, Jake, Diane and great-grandchildren Maxx, James, Riker, Samantha, Aubrey, Cooper, Stella, Lawson, Emma, Ava, and David. Sadly missed by his sisters Lorena, Mary, sister-in-law Ruth and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Marcus, Daniel, and Frank. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Thursday, January 26th from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Caistor Centre Free Methodist Church, 8488 Regional Road 65 (corner of Regional Road 6) on Friday January 27th at 2 p.m. Luncheon to follow at Abingdon Hall, 1683 Abingdon Road, Caistor Centre (corner of Silver St and Abingdon Road).
