Obituary of John De Haan

DE HAAN, JOHN: The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. Psalm 23. The Lord called unto Himself, John De Haan born March 20, 1934. He passed peacefully with family at his side at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton on April 10, 2016 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Trinka De Haan (nee Roorda, d.1980) and Alice De Haan (nee Keizer, d.2009). Loving father of Pete and Grace, Ann and Dale Traver, Ed (d.2013) and Wilma, Kevin and Laura, Grace and Wayne Roorda, Ann and Dave Bacher, Steven Nienhuis, and Cindy and Dean Swick. Cherished grandfather of 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Jenny and Andy Pegels, and Peter and Nellie De Haan and he will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his grandson Mark Nienhuis (d.2005). Special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff at Shalom Gardens who were so kind and compassionate in their care of John. Visitation at Wellandport United Reformed Church, 74082 Wellandport Road, Wellandport on Wednesday, April 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Wellandport United Reformed Church on Thursday, April 14 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Shalom Manor or Dunnville Christian School would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home.
