Obituary of Grietje Akke Swierenga

SWIERENGA, GRIETJE: At McNally House Hospice in Grimsby on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, Grietje Akke Swierenga (nee Piso) of Smithville passed away in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Jacob Swierenga (2005). Loving mother of Wilfred (Nancy), Harold (Sabine), Henry (Twyla), Hilda Wiley (George) and mother-in-law of Lynne Swierenga. Cherished by her grandchildren Stephan (Natalie), Heidi (Tom), Leath (Jamie), Sheena (Stephen), Kaylee (Matt), Debbie (Tony), Curtis (Kate), Timothy (Lauren), Karen (Carlo), Benjamin (Angie) and by 19 great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister Jantje in The Netherlands. Predeceased by her infant son Johan (1946), son Edward (2003), one brother and one sister. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Sunday, December 27 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Smithville Presbyterian Church, 143 St. Catharines Street (Regional Rd 20), Smithville on Monday, December 28 at 11 a.m. with interment at Bethel Cemetery, Winslow.
