ONGARO, ROMA: Peacefully, at Deer Park Villa in Grimsby, on Sunday, December 24, 2006, Roma Ongaro (nee Fortuna) in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late Canadiano Ongaro (1993). Loving mother of Maria Ongaro, and of David Ongaro and his wife Susan. Cherished grandmother of Rachel Ongaro. Dear sister of Emelia Fortuna of Italy. She will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Predeceased by her twin brother Remo, and brothers Giuseppe and Valentino, all of Italy. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street in Smithville on Wednesday from 7-9 pm with Prayers at 8 pm. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, December 28 at 10 am at St. Martin of Tours' Roman Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Road 20) in Smithville with interment at the church's adjoining cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to McNally House (Niagara West Community Hospice) would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
