Obituary of Douglas John Rouse

ROUSE, DOUG:  At his home in Smithville with his family by his side on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, Douglas John Rouse of Smithville passed away in his 62nd year.  His memory will live on through his beloved wife of 37 years and soul mate Pat (nee Carr) and in his loving children Faithe Rouse, Ryan Carr-Rouse and Patrick Rouse.  He will also be dearly missed by his brother Ron Rouse (Kathie), sister Marie Rouse, and brother David Rouse as well as many good friends.    Doug was a long-time paramedic in the Hamilton area.  Special thanks to Dr. Denise Marshall and the Niagara West Palliative Care Team, Dr. Amanda Marrone, and his EMS family for their faithful and outstanding care and friendship.  Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Saturday, March 15 from 7-9 pm (evening only), and on Sunday, March 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will be held at Smithville United Church, 116 West Street (Regional Road 20), Smithville on Monday, March 17 at 11 am.  Cremation to follow.  If desired, memorial donations to Niagara West Palliative Care Team or Smithville United Church would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
