BELMONT, HARRY: 1947-2008: Peacefully at home and with his family by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, December 26, 2008, Harry Belmont of Smithville, formerly of Stoney Creek. Devoted husband of Heather Belmont for 40 years. Loving father of Jason and Shellie Belmont, Melanie and Rick Whitaker, and Natalie and Rob Garofalo. Most cherished Papa of his precious grandchildren Tyeler, Zakary, Victoria, Olivia and Sophia, and his faithful friend Tia (Woof). Harry will be very sadly missed by his family and friends in both Canada and England. We, his family, wish to extend our deepest gratitude to Father Obioma, Dr. Matt and Nurse Linda. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm with Prayers at 7 pm. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30 at 10 am at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Road 20) in Smithville with interment at the church's adjoining cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home. He did it "My Way!"
