MATYS, JOHN: On Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Grimsby. John Matys of Smithville passed away in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Elisabeth (nee Dewaide) for 26 years. Loving father of Barb Cosby (Rob), Bruce Matys (Pam), Christine Matys-Ballinger (Matt), Marjo Daniels (Rob Williams), and Mike VanMulken (Kim Glintz). Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Dear brother of the late Charlie Matys (the late Olga), Jean Kowtecky (the late Jerry), the late Helen Lane (the late Jim), Bernice O'Reilly (the late Bill), Mildred Smith (Ross) and Sylvia Kennedy (Rick). Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Thursday, September 12 from 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 13 at 10:30 am. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. If desired, memorial contributions to West Lincoln Memorial Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
