ONGARO, Maria: Maria Elisa Ongaro passed away on December 4, 2012 after having suffered a massive stroke. Maria was born in Castelgomberto Italy in 1940. She immigrated to Canada with her mother and Canadian-born father in 1948. She was the only daughter of Canadiano (d. 1993) and Roma (nee Fortuna) (d. 2006) Ongaro. Maria was the beloved sister of David Ongaro and his wife Susan Juhlke and cherished aunt of Rachel Ongaro and her husband, Kyle Wood. Maria is survived by one Aunt, Lia Fortuna of Italy and many dear cousins and friends both here in Canada and Italy. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church, 166 West Street (Regional Road 20), Smithville on Wednesday, December 12 at 11 am. Inurnment at the church's adjoining cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home.
