BAARDA, HESSEL: On Friday, April 1, 2011, the Lord called home His faithful servant Hessel Baarda of Smithville, at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband for 63 years of Wiepkje (Wilma) Baarda (nee Sprik). Loving father of Chester and Grace, Rennie, Esther and Sijmen Kampstra, Christine and Ivan Boyle, Hank and Debbie, Hessel and Helen, the late Peter Baarda (1996), Dick and Bonnie, Dorothy and Marcel Pinard, Daniel and Joanne, Ken and Leanne, and Pearl and Larry Madden. Cherished by 27 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Wil Sprik of The Netherlands. Friends may call at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Monday, April 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Smithville Christian Reformed Church (6522 Smithville Road) on Tuesday, April 5 at 1 pm. Private interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens will precede the service. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the ER and ICU at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
