HODGKINS, ISABEL: Peacefully at her daughter’s home in Smithville on Saturday, August 14, 2010, Isabel Catherine Hodgkins (nee Snyder) of Loring and Smithville Ontario, in her 81st year. Beloved wife of Clayton Hodgkins for over 62 years. Dearly loved mother of Joanne (Scott) Battersby, Janet (Daryl) Joyner, and Marianne (Fred) Brandt. Cherished grandmother of Tricia (Jeff), Dylan, Daaron, Janelle (Crescenzio "Chris"), Kurt (Nina) and Kyle (Laura), and great-grandmother of Stephanie, Ryan, Hunter, Rose, George, Caden and Colby. Also survived by her brother-in-law David (Taft) Davis. Predeceased by her mother Mabel and father Hugh, sister Maxine Davis and brother Jim Snyder. She will also be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Together, Clayton and Isabel owned and operated Hodgkins Hardware in Smithville before retiring to Loring in 1987. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 17 at 11 am at the funeral home. Special thanks to the Canadian Red Cross PSW caregivers in Smithville and Loring, The Saint Elizabeth Nurses, and Dr. Matthew Noble-Wohlgemut.
