DEHAAN, ALICE: The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. Psalm 23. The Lord called unto Himself, Alice De Haan (nee Keizer) born August 4, 1938; after a courageous 3 ½ year battle with cancer. She passed peacefully with family at her side at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, on October 20, 2009 at the age of 71. Beloved wife of John, mother of Pete and Grace, Grace and Wayne Roorda, Ann and Dale Traver, Steven Nienhuis, Ann Nienhuis, Ed and Wilma, Cindy and Dean Swick, Kevin and Laura. She was cherished by her 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Loving sister of Henry Keizer, Hennie Heida, John Keizer, Paul Keizer and Bill Keizer, and dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband, Harry Nienhuis; John's first wife Trinka (nee Roorda); and grandson Mark Nienhuis. Special thanks to the terrific doctors and nurses of the W.L.M.H., Smithville Medical Centre, Juravinski Cancer Clinic, and the home care nurses. Her intense faith and love in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ shone forth in all she said and did. Memorial visitation at the Wellandport United Reformed Church, 74082 Wellandport Rd., Wellandport on Thursday, October 22 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral service on Friday, October 23 at 11 am at the same church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Clinic or The Bible League would be greatly appreciated and can be made through the funeral home.
