BAARDA, BARBARA: On Wednesday, May 6, 2009, the Lord called Home his beloved child, Baukje (Barbara) Baarda (nee Visser) of Wellandport, in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late George Baarda (1996). Loving mother of Chester and Agnes, George and Katie, the late Ann Baarda (2006), Cor and Ann, Eb and Dick Bokma, Frank and Nellie, Dorothy and Ralph Janssens, Tina and Dave Vander Wier, Gerty, Ron, Dan and Valerie, and Dick and Sabatina. Cherished by 43 grandchildren and 70 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by her brother-in-law Hessel Baarda and his wife Wiep, and sister-in-law Tjitske DeJong of the Netherlands. Predeceased by all of her siblings. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Friday, May 8 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 11 am at Riverside Christian Reformed Church, 74094 Wellandport Road, Wellandport. Interment Union Cemetery, Smithville.
