SMITH, EDNA: Surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, Ethel Edna Smith (nee Green) passed away at Hamilton General Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Leslie Smith (1998). Loving mother of Joan Ballantyne (Bob), Marlene Los (Tom), Brenda Robins (Glenn), Verna Cook (John) and Verne Smith (Kim), and mother-in-law of Jackie Smith. Predeceased by her son Fred Smith (2006). Cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Ada Urquhart (Don) and Frances Kinney, and sister-in-law of Harley Smith, and Margaret Smith. She will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by her brother Frank Green, sister-in-law Dianne Green. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street in Smithville on Monday, June 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Merritt's United Church (corner of Church Road and South Chippawa Road) on Tuesday, June 17 at 11 am. Interment at the church's adjoining cemetery.
