McEWAN, MARGARET: On Sunday, September 9, 2007, Margaret Catherine McEwan (nee Hiles) of Smithville (and previously of Oakland, Ontario) in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Karl McEwan and daughter of the late Cecil and Ruth Ann Hiles. Loving mother of Ruth Ann and Charles Street of Smithville, Mary and Lloyd Muir of Markdale, and Robert McEwan of Hamilton. Cherished by her grandchildren Martin and Tara Street, Amy and Frazer Box, Melanie and Adam Kearns, Thomas Muir and great-grandson Owen Box. Dear sister of Samuel Wayne Hiles and his wife Joyce, and sister-in-law of Elaine Oliver. Predeceased by her sisters Eleanor Poss and Yvonne Bowler. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 12 at 10:30 am at the Smithville United Church, 116 West Street (Regional Road 20) in Smithville. Following a reception at the church, a graveside service and the interment will be held at approximately 2:30 pm at Scotland Cemetery in Scotland, Ontario. Memorial contributions to Smithville United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family and can be made through the funeral home.
